Read frequently asked questions and contact Applicant.

What is Applicant? – Applicant is an easy to use platform that quickly connects employers and potential employees. Simply search job seekers profiles by the work category, location and availability, then contact the most compatible applicant for free. We list applicants profiles, not jobs. This significantly reduces the time spent listing jobs and waiting for applicants to apply. Faster, cheaper, easier, better!

Do I need to sign up? - No, one of the many advantages of Applicant is that employers do not need to sign up and it's completely free to use!

How much should I pay the job seeker? - Applicant allows candidates to set their desired pay rate, which can be filtered under search results. This should provide a range of candidates in your pay scale. View a salary guide from Careers New Zealand. Your applicants pay should reflect the skills, experience level and your job requirements.

Rules and Regulations:
The current adult minimum wage is $18.90 per hour. More on minimum wages can be found here.

It is up to you to negotiate an appropriate pay rate/ contract amount, as the pay is a private agreement. This advice is intended as a general guide and if in doubt, it is up to you to ensure that the employment situation is correct.

Do I need a contract? - For regular employment positions, an individual employment contract will need to be signed by both parties. For one-off jobs, an independent contractor would be the typical employment category. For contractors, no employment contract is needed but the pay rates and conditions should be written on a contract for service, prior to the job commencing. See example here.

How does Applicant keep candidates safe? – We take safety very seriously and aim to provide a safe platform for candidates, while still allowing enough information to enable job seekers to get jobs. We currently have these features in place:
- There are no personal details displayed on the website to protect applicants (phone number, email address, last name and addresses) This is only available after contact is made.
- Contact can only be made through the website - we keep a copy of all contact details to provide a level of safety to applicants.
- When a job connection is made a workplace address must be given (which is logged) and the applicant is urged to only meet there for your safety.
